Over time, and through trial and error, we’ve crafted the ultimate solution for gun safe transportation. Here’s a look at how we got here.
The Early Days: Learning from Transportation Challenges
One issue we encountered early on was the storage trailers and box trucks we used at the beginning were just not reliable enough. Our team does a lot of driving, and they move safes in and out of the truck multiple times each day. The lift gates on the box trucks would wear out quickly, axles would break down, and the storage trailer frames would have problems far earlier than anticipated. Navigating tight residential streets with low-hanging branches or tackling winding mountain roads also proved to be major obstacles. We knew there had to be a better way to meet the demands of daily gun safe delivery.
The Shift to Trailers with Ramps
With all that experience in mind, we switched from box trucks to using trailers with ramps. While this solved the lift-gate problem, they also brought to light some brand new ones. The ramps wore out quickly under the weight of heavy safes, and they increased the risk of accidents during loading and unloading. Next, we adopted drop-deck trailers, which use a hydraulic system to lower the trailer bed flat to the ground. Drop-deck trailers also offered greater maneuverability than box trucks, allowing us to navigate narrow streets and challenging roads with ease. This seemed to be going in the right direction.
Combining Reliability with Weather Protection
While drop-deck trailers brought us closer to the ideal system, one final issue remained: ensuring reliable transportation in all weather conditions. Having an enclosed trailer is a boon for many reasons, like during poor weather (especially during a midwestern winter) and for maintaining discretion during transport. Unfortunately, the options for an enclosed drop deck trailer are very limited and did not meet our standards.
Building the Ultimate Gun Safe Delivery System
Finally, we realized that our best option was to work through manufacturing our own solution, by collaborating with Anderson Trailers. Through this collaboration, we were able to create the ultimate safe and vault delivery solution, an enclosed ground level loading trailer, perfect for our use! This innovative solution has not only transformed our operations but also led to the creation of Gig’s Rigs, a trusted resource for high-quality trailers and moving equipment.
